The thrust( the force acting perpendicular to a surface) per unit area is called pressure.

Pressure = Thrust/Area

=> N/m² or N/m⁻² = 1 Pascal or Pa( in honour of the scientist Blaise Pascal).

It is a scalar quantity, because it only has magnitude.
