An air pollutant that emitted directly from a source is called primary pollutant.

They can cause serious environmental problems like global warming and acid rain.

Sulfur oxides, volatile organic compounds, etc. are the examples of primary pollutant.

Pollutants:- pollutants are those material that are discharged in irregular amount in unsuitable place by human being.

On the basis of their origin pollutants have been classified into two types:-
A)Primary pollutants:-
These pollutants are directly released from the source.
EXAMPLE-carbon dioxide and sulphur di oxide etc.
B)Secondary pollutants:-
These pollutants are produced by the chemical reaction of primary pollutants.
EXAMPLE-Peroxyacetyl nitrate (PAN) is a product of photochemical reaction for the formation of fog.
