The principle of homogeneity is that the dimensions of each the terms of a dimensiional equation on both sides are the same . Any equation or formula involving dimensions (like mass, length, time , temperature electricity) have the terms with samedimensions.

Principle of Homogeneity of Dimensional equations :

According to this principle, an equation will be dimensionally correct when the dimension of all the terms in both side of the equation (L. H. S. & R. H. S.) are the same.

⚫This is one of the application of Dimensional Analysis.

⚫In checking the dimensional consistency of equations, this principle is followed.

⚫This is based on the fact that physical quantities of same type can be added, subtracted or compared.

Example : Velocity can be added to velocity and can be subtracted to the velocity but not to force because of having different dimensional formula.
