A printer is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and transfers the information to paper, usually to standard size sheets of paper.
Any two printers are:-
●IMPACT PRINTERS
●NON- IMPACT PRINTERS
Types of impact printers are:-
●Character printer
●Dot matrix printer
Types of Non-impact printers are:-
●Laser printer
●Ink jet printer
The function of a printer is to provide the user with a copy of what is input into the printer via your computer.
This can be from several input opportunities depending upon your particular printer’s capabilities.
If you have a multi-function printer, input/output can be in the form of print, copy, fax or scan. Print, of course comes directly from what is input from your computer. The copy function comes from input from the printer itself via directly off of the scan glass for single sheet input or multi-sheet via the auto-document feed (adf) if so equipped.
Fax input is linked via your phone line or voip depending upon your fax setup. Output is directly through your printer.
Scanning, is so equipped, is accomplished much the same as the copy function, however, you have the ability to save the scanned image to your computer hard drive as a file for future use and printing.
This is brief and probably slightly incomplete based upon your particular printer and it’s built in capabilities.
