A probe is a short length DNA fragment which is radioactively labelled, and it is used for the detection of specific complimentary strands of DNA. these probes can be synthesized specifically to the desired genes of interest/DNA sequences. and if the gene of interest is present in sample thehybridization with the probe take place, which gives a quantitative and qualitative results regarding the gene.

the visualization is done by the means of radioactivity measurement in the sample. either by auto- radiography or by X-ray analysis.
