what is produced when coal is burnt without the presence of air?​

Explanation:

Coal when burnt in the presence of air forms carbon dioxide. However, during the insufficient supply of oxygen, due to presence of less oxygen molecules to combine with, carbon monoxide(CO) is formed instead of carbon dioxide.
