Description of Protein

Proteins are the polymers (large molecules made up of many small sub-units) of amino acid full stop the sequence of the amino acid is contradicted by the DNA.

In Cell membrane of animals it is found in two types :-

  • Integral - found fully in b/w layers.
  • Peripheral - Lies on the surface of membrane.

Protein also helps in transporting water molecules by concentration gradient.

At the molecular level these Proteins can be categorise as :-

1. Fibrous Proteins - fibrous proteins are insoluble and elongated.

2. Globular Proteins - global proteins are soluble and compressed.

Protein synthesis takes place through the process of Translation which occur in cytoplasm.

Example :- Myosin (protein that allow contraction of muscles)
