Hey !!

Thanks for the question.

Prior to the 16th century the whole Europe was under the rule of Catholic Churches directly or indirectly. The churches shown their despotic power against the people. Whatever they said, they made the people to believe that it is in Bible. As, Bible was not printed in those days. Whatever the church that was in Bible according to the people. But it was wrong. The Churches were miausing the powers. They also collected the taxes from the people like thithes ans tailes. These taxes we're heavy burden to the poople. People could not anything as they were in belief that it is written in the Bible.

Later in 16th century Johannes Guttenburg invented the printing machine.Which brought many changes in the political, Economical, Social, Religious dimensions in Europe. Printing press was the great invention that time. The Church officials opposed the printing press because they feared about the printing of Bible in local language. As, their fear came true. That the Bible was the first book to be printed in the world. Bible was printed in local language which the normal people can understand.

After the printing of Bible, the people came to know that the church officials were misusing their powers. Martin Luther a priest started a mass movement in Rome against the church people which got full support from the people. He opposed the doctrines and the domination of Church authorities. He said that the the church officials are against the Christianity and they are misusing the powers. This movement was known as protestant Reformation. This is an important event in the history of Europe.

The Protestant Reformation was a major 16th century European movement aimed initially at reforming the beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. Its religious aspects were supplemented by ambitious political rulers who wanted to extend their power and control at the expense of the Church.
