Pythagorean.Theorem. First, let us make the trapezoid. You start with a triangle of sides a, b, and c where the sides a and b meet to form a right angle. Then put a second triangle below the first such that side a is an extension of the other triangles b side

  • As usual, a and b denote the lengths of the legs (the sides forming the right angle) of a right triangle, c the length of its hypotenuse.

Then put a second triangle below the first such that side a is an extension of the other triangles b side. Next connect the end of side a at the top with side b on the bottom to create the trapezoid. Then subtracting both sides by 2ab the end result is which is the Pythagorean Theorem.
