A pyrogen is a substance causing induction of a febrile response(elevation of body temperature , fever) which can be fatal for plants and animals.

They are febrile inducing substances which are usually derived from microorganisms like endotoxins and liposaccacarides. Chemically, they are lipid substances that are associated with carrier molecule, usually a polysaccharide. The carrier may be also a peptide. These carriers increase the solubility of lipid.

Examples:

E.coli , Pesudomonas, Proteus....etc.

Answer:

A pyroxgen is a substance causing induction of a febrile response ( elevation of a body temperature, fever ) which can be fatal in humans and animals.

Explanation:

pyroxgen is a fever-inducing substance usually derived from microorganisms [ endotoxin or lipopolysaccharid ( LPS ) ] and when present systematically in sufficient quantity can lead to sever signs of inflammation, shock, miltirogen failure and sometimes even death in humans.
