In order to tell the computer, 'what you want to do' We write the program in a language that a computer can understand. Though there are many programming languages such as Pascal, Python, Java, Ruby, C, etc.

Python is a high level Interpreted, interactive, object oriented, scripting language.

Python was created by Guido Van Rossum. When he was working at CWI (Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica) which is a National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science. The language was released in 1991.

Python got its name from a BBC series from seventies - Monty Python's flying circus.

It is case sensitive language. It is free to use.

Hope it helps.
