Quality management system is a system of how quality is managed in the manufacture, processing and delivery processes in a pharmaceutical company. QMS starts with the objective of the organization and the mission.

The QMS contains documentation as per the ISO guidelines. The processes mentioned should related to planning , implementation, preservation, verification activities, that happen daily. The roles and responsibilities of the persons involved are all documented.

The purpose is to assign responsibility of every activity to some person. Also fault identification and correction (also prevention) activities are mentioned.

Identification of responsibilities is important. QMS certified by an external auditing organization gives confidence to customers that this pharmaceutical company follows internationally accepted rules, equipment and processes.

QMS ensures that the quality of product drugs and the services offered by the organization to its suppliers and customers are reliable.  Quality improvement activities and the commitment to it are mentioned clearly.
