Radioactivity :-

  • Radioactivity is a phenomenon of spontaneous disintegration of certain nuclei into others due to emission of radiation like α , ß , γ
  • radioactivity is a nucleus phenomenon. it does not depend on physical and external condition

Alpha particle

 \implies\bf{\alpha = _{2}^{4}He}

Beta particle :-

  • fast moving electrons originating from the nucleus

 \implies\bf{\beta = _{-1}^{\: \: 0}e}

Gamma particle :-

  • electromagnetic radiation of high energy

 \implies\bf{\gamma = _{0}^{0} \gamma}

Velocity :- α< ß < γ

Penetration power :- α < ß < γ

Ionization power :- α > ß > γ

  • All the radioactive decay follow first order kinetics
