Answer: Area devoid of rainfall on the leeward side of mountain ranges is called Shadow region.

Explanation:

the moist ladden clouds tend to be nearer to ground until they are forced to rise because of presence of geographical feature like mountain and under adiabatic cooling it rises against slope of mountains (on windward slopes) and looses its moisture and afterward on the other side goes under adiabatic heating and becomes dry and cause no rain on other side.
