DUE TO INCREASING PROBLEMS RESULTING FROM MULTI PURPOSE RIVERS PROJECTS, WATER HARVESTING SYSTEM ARE AN ALTERNATIVE FOR IMPROVEMENT IN WATER AVAILABILITY. IT DOES NOT HARM THE ENVIRONMENT ALSO.
IN INDIA THERE EXISTED AN EXTRAORDINARY TRADITION OF WATER HARVESTING SYSTEM KEEPING IN MIND THE CLIMATE CONDITIONS AND WATER NEEDS.
PEOPLE HAD KNOWLEDGE OF RAINFALL SYSTEM AND TECHNIQUES TO HARVEST GROUND WATER, RAINWATER, RIVER WATER AND FLOOD WATER.
