am experiment in which all possible outcomes are known and the exact outcome cannot be predicted in advance, is called a random experiment

When we fling a coin, assuring it is definitely going to be a head or a tail is nearly tricky. This is a random tryout where either can appear when we do the tossing.

First time, we fling a coin, a head may appear, second time again head may appear and third time a tail may or may not appear and so on.

A random variable is the set of all possible values which can be obtained during the random experiment of tossing the coin.

The values here we mean, as the values we give for the event when head appears and the value we give for the event when tail appears. We can assign 0 for head and 1 for tail.

In Algebra, a variable is unknown value and when used in any linear equation, we can find the value.

But a random variable can be assigned any value from the given set of values randomly.

Example: The random tryout is to lob the dice one time. The random variable X is the figure that displays on the top surface of the dice.

A dice is numbered from 1 to 6 Here when we lob a dice, it can display any figure from 1 to 6

Such that, X can be any figure from 1 to 6

The set that comprises of all the figures from 1 to 6 is the Sample Space

S= {1,2,3,4,5,6}

Example: The random tryout is to fling a coin three times. The random figure X is the integer of outcomes being head while tossing the coin three times.

The probable figure X can be 0 (when in all outcome is only tails), 1, 2 or 3

And the set that comprises of all the probable outcomes is the Sample Space

S= {0,1,2,3}
