hey mate.......

a rational number is a number such as -3/7 that can be expressed as the quotient or fraction p/q of two integers, a numerator p and a non-zero denominator q. Every integer is a rational number: for example, 5 = 5/1

hope it helps....

Book definition-Any no which can be written in p/q form is a rational no. where p and q are integers and q does no equal to 0.

FOR EASY UNDERSTANDING-

-All the terminating(which get finished at a point for eg. 2 etc) no. .

-All the non-terminating but repeating no. (for eg. 1.222222.... etc.)

Are rational numbers.

Hope it Helps.
