☞ Rationalisation:-

When the denominator of an expression contains a term with a square root, the procedure of converting it to an equivalent expression whose denominator is a rational number is called rationalising the denominator.

1) 1/√3 = 1/√3 × √3/√3 = √3/3

Matlab agar kabhi rationalization karna chahoge toh niche se lekar upar utha denge...got it? Uske baad apko finally realize hota h ki niche irrational tha..thik hi tha....XD

$= \frac{1}{ \sqrt{5} + 1} \times \frac{ \sqrt{5} - 1}{ \sqrt{5 } - 1 }$

$= \frac{ \sqrt{5} - 1}{5 - 1}$

$= \frac{ \sqrt{5} - 1}{4}$

$= \frac{1}{8 + 3 \sqrt{5} } \times \frac{8 - 3 \sqrt{5} }{8 - 3 \sqrt{5} }$

$= \frac{8 - 3 \sqrt{5} }{64 - 45}$

$= \frac{8 - 3 \sqrt{5} }{19}$

Rationalisation helps in locating the number on the number line. For instance; when we rationalize the denominator of 1/√2, we get √2/2.

Obviously it is now easy to locate 1/√2 on the number line. IT IS HALF WAY B/W 0 AND √2.
