Answer:

Que. - What is redox reaction?

Ans. - A redox reaction can be defined as a chemical reaction in which electrons are transferred between two reactants participating in it. This transfer of electrons can be identified by observing the changes in the oxidation states of the reacting species.

Eg. - reaction between hydrogen and fluorine, the hydrogen is oxidized whereas the fluorine is reduced

H2 + F2 → 2HF

DEFINITION:-

In a reaction whenever one substance is oxidized the other is definitely reduced. The reverse is also true, whenever one substance is reduced the other is oxidized. Such reaction in which oxidation and reduction takes place simultaneously are known as redox reactions.

FOR EXAMPLE:-

● CuO + H2 ----> Cu + H2O

Here,

CuO cconverted into Cu [Reduction]

H2 converted into H2O [Oxidation].

THIS WILL HELP YOU :)
