THOSE SUBSTANCES WHICH PROVIDE HYDROGEN ARE KNOWN AS REDUCING AGENT.

OR

Reducing agents refer to those chemical species which remove oxygen or add hydrogen to another chemical species. .

Ex:- When Copper Oxide is heated with Hydrogen, then Copper metal and water are formed:-

CuO + H2 --------> Cu + H2O

Hydrogen is responsible for removing Oxygen from Copper Oxide, therefore Hydrogen is the reducing agent.

In terms of electron transfer reducing agents refer to chemical species which reduces another chemical species by giving them electrons
