A reducing agent itself gets oxidised i.e. gain oxygen

4NH3 + 5O2 -------> 4NO + 6H2O

In this reaction, Nitrogen of ammonia gain oxygen to form NO. Which means NH3 is oxidised. So, it acts as reducing agent in the reaction.
