The television is referred to as the idiotic thing.

In the poem 'Television' Roald Dahl advises the parents not to install the television. He tells about the dangers of watching television excessively. According to him a person who watches TV all the time loses his power of imagination and creativity. While reading books enables him to discover deeper levels of joy and opens a new and exciting world for him. So it is better to read books instead of watching television.

The answer is television.

The television is referred to as the idiotic thing that the poet advises not to install. Children sit glued in front of the television full time that they forget the art of playing or carrying out tasks expected from them. Reading also takes a backward curve. Before the television came in, there were books of all sorts lying everywhere.
