Kissa goi is known as the style of storytelling that was quite popular during the era of Munshi Premchand.

It was also popular in URDU and became very popular among the nobles of Delhi in the Medieval period.

With the revolution of 1857, the culture almost disappeared as the British government stamped its authority with ruthlessness.
