Reflection of light:-

  • When rays of light hit an surface, it goes back through the same medium. That phenomenon is called reflection of light.

  • Or we can say that, the reflection upon hitting the surface and returning to the same medium is called reflection of light.

Example:-

  • When we take one of the mirrors and light a flashlight on it, then we see that the light rays of the amplitude will return to the same medium.

Laws of reflection :-

1. First rule :

  • During the occurrence of reflection, the value of incidence angle(i) and angle of reflection(r) remains equal.

2. Second rule :

  • During the occurrence of reflection, the incident ray, reflected ray and normal are in the same plane.
