Reflex actions is an involuntary ,automatic response to a stimulus. reflex action are controlled by spinal cord. the path taken by stimulus /Impulse during reflex action is called reflex arc

steps in reflex action

1.stimulus is detected by receptors and Impulse is carried by sensory neuron into spinal cord
2. Inside spinal cord , Impulse transferred to relay neuron /inter neuron which anaylse the message further instruction is sent by relay neuron to motor neuron and finally to muscle /gland .response I.e reflex action comes into play

Answer:

"This is what actually happens":-

1.Receptor detects a stimulus and then it changes the environment.

2.Sensory Neuron sends signals to relay neuron.

3.Motor neuron sends signals to effector.

4.Effector produces a response.

reflex action is the action which is controlled by our spinal cord present in our vertebral column . let me give you a example : if you are cooking something

and by mistake your hand got burned u will immediately remove your hand right ?   this is because your sense organ which is your skin sent a signal to your spinal cord . now the question arise that why our brain did not do the same thin as it controls the various parts of our body ? well you can say that the spinal cord is our second brain . Now u ask y do we need two brains right ? well let take the same example : in this place the signal of your sense organ will reach the brain now your brain takes time to take an action and you will end up with having some injury or damage in your body. So this is why reflex action is important
