Hello Bhriti....
The action which doesn't require brain to response and does it itself by the help of spinal cord is called reflex action.It is a quick sudden response to the stimuli.
e.g. (1):lifting of hand when touched by a hot object, (2):closing of eyelids when an insect comes in front of our eye.
The pathway:
Receptor >sensory neuron>spinal cord>motor neuron>Effector

Heya,
The sudden and automatic response to a stimulus is called reflex action.
For example:- Removal of hand when we touch a hot object , movement of diaphragm
When we touch a hot object, thermo receptors present in our skin receive the stimulus and changes it into nerve impulses which are carries to spinal cord by sensory neurons. Thereby spinal cord instructs the effectors through motor neuron then our muscle contradicts and we remove our hand
Pathway:-
Stimulus------------>Receptors----------> Sensory neuron------> spinal cord-----------> motor neurons------> effectors------Response
Hope it helps u.........
