what is reflex action? how does it differ from normal functions of brain?

Reflex actions are the actions that take place immediately after sudden impulse.
Normal functions of brain does not place immediately. They take some time to happen.

An immediate response to stimuli is called reflex.. and path travelled during reflex is called reflex arc.. so now question is how it is differ from simple action.. bcoz in this our CNS directly convey msg to PNS ..And there is no direct role of brain in reflex action
