Reflex action is basically the instant response to an external stimulus .

Its main significance is that it prevents us from getting hurt
for eg when you touch a hot object , due to the reflex action you are able to take off your hand from the hot object and in this way you don't get hurt a lot

Mechanism : first the information is interpreted by the sensory receptors present in our skin then the information travels through the nerves to the CNS ( spinal cord and brain) then by the relay nerve the information travels to the effector which helps you to remove your hand from the hot object
