what is refraction by a lens???l
Answers
Answer:
Lenses serve to refract light at each boundary. As a ray of light enters a lens, it is refracted; and as the same ray of light exits the lens, it is refracted again. The net effect of the refraction of light at these two boundaries is that the light ray has changed directions.
Refraction of light refers to the bending of the path of light as it passes from one medium to another. This happens because the speed of light changes as the medium it travels through varies. The medium cases the light to either speed up or slow down depending upon its index and this results in the bending of light.
Here the light ray bends towards the normal as it slows down after entering the medium. If it speeds up then it will bend away from the normal.
