what is refraction of light

ashraykundapura: Refraction is basically the opposite of reflection kinda like that , when light rays hit a surface which is not smooth then the light rays are not reflected parallely at this time refraction occurs
rockyoqueen: yes but not a rough surface it enters into another media
ashraykundapura: Well does refraction happen in mirrors too?
rockyoqueen: no I am sorry
rockyoqueen: I have entered the term mirror by mistake
ashraykundapura: Oh ok

"change in path of a light ray as it passes from one medium to another medium is called refraction of light"
when light travels from a rarer medium to a denser one,it bends towards the normal (i>r) and when travels from a denser medium to a rarer one,it bends away from the normal(i<r).

i hope this will help you
