Refraction is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium where its speed is different. The refraction of light when it passes from a fast medium to a slow medium bends the light ray toward the normal to the boundary between the two media.

The laws of refraction as follows:
1. The incident ray, the refracted ray and the normal to the surface at the point of incidence all lie in one plane.
2. Snell's law (also known as Snell–Descartes law and the law of refraction) is a formula used to describe the relationship between the angles of incidence and refraction, when referring to light or other waves passing through a boundary between two different isotropic media, such as water, glass, or air.

refraction:
the bending of ray of of light from one medium to another is known as refraction.

Laws of refraction:
1.the incident ray,the refracted ray and the normal to the interface of two transparent media at the point of incidence, all lie in same plane
2.the ratio of sine of angle of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction is a constant, for the light of a given colour and for the given pair of media.this law is also known as snell's law of refraction.

sin i/sin r= constant
