Refraction of Light. Refraction is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium where its speed is different

Refraction of Light is,as it passes from less dense to more dense mediums. When light passes from a less dense to a more dense substance, (for example passing from air into water), the light is refracted (or bent) towards the normal.

Refraction of light is the shifting of the light ray from its original path when it moves from a denser to a rarer(less dense medium) medium or from a rarer to a denser medium.

It is caused because the speed of light is different in different mediums.Light travels fastest in vacuum or air but it becomes slower in water(denser than air) and even slower in glass(denser than water).

Therefore,when light enters passes through water or glass it slows down thus,refracting from its path towards the normal at the border of the two mediums and vice versa.
