The reissner’s membrane or vestibular membrane, is the vestibular wall located in cochlea of the inner ear.
It divides the cochlear duct from the vestibular duct. It forms a compartment inside cochlea along with the basilar membrane that is filled with endolymph. Endolymph is vital for the proper functioning of the spiral organ of Corti.
The primary functions are that it acts like a diffusion barrier, allowing the nutrients to travel from perilymph to endolymph.
