What is relationship between rural and urban society?

Rural areas can be explained as those pieces of land that stay outside city centers and towns.  

They are mostly marked by large farms, large pieces of land that stay idle without extreme developmental work.  

An urban area on other hand is an area marked with developed town centers and sometimes these towns have developed into cities.  

In majority of cases these towns were rural area which through advances in technology, industrialization and urbanization have enlarged into what they are now.
