I think I remember relative pronouns to be something like this; A relative pronoun is used to connect a clause or phrase to a noun or pronoun
For example; Who, Whom, Which, Whichever, Whomever etc.

who,whom,whose - Refer to people
that,which,what - Refer to animals or objects
