HELLO THERE!!

Relief rainfall, also called Orographic rainfall, is a type of rainfall which is caused when moisture-bearing clouds are intercepted by hills and mountains.

Hills and mountains are called relief features. When the moisture-bearing clouds strike mountains, they shed their moisture in the form of rain.

This is called Orographic rainfall.

India is a country which experiences this type of rainfall.

The Arabian Sea branch of South West Monsoon causes rainfall in the Western part of the Western Ghats because they are intercepted by the Western Ghats.

The Bay of Bengal branch of South West Monsoon causes rainfall in Mawsynram and Cherrapunji because they are intercepted by the Garo, Khasi and Jaintia Hills.

The Himalayas also intercept the winds and cause orographic (relief) rainfall.

HOPE MY ANSWER IS SATISFACTORY!
THANKS.....

relief rainfall also known as orographic rainfall. if a wind barrier lies between moisture bearing wind this causes the wind to rise along it s slope. the wind gets condensed and cooled when rises up. on further cooling it causes the windward side to receive rainfall. I hope it helps
