what is Remainder theorem ?

STATEMENT:-

LET P(X) BE A POLYNOMIAL OF A DEGREE ≥ 1 AND "a" IS ANY REAL NUMBER .IF P(x) is divided by(x-a) then remainder is p(a).

E.g let p(x) = $x^3-7x^2+6x+4$ and to be divided by (x-6). x-6=0 ==>x=6

so divide p(x) with x-6 and find the remainder ,put x=6 i.e p(6)will be remainder,

p(6)=$6^3-7 *6^2+4\\==>216-252+36+4\\==>4$

so the remainder is 4
