The renal system or the urinary system in human consists of pairs of kidneys and ureters, a urinary bladder and a urethera.

  • Kidneys - These are 2 redish brown bean shaped structures situated towards the back of the abdomen, one on Either side of the backbone. They filter impure blood and produce urine.
  • Ureters - These are 2 narrow tubes which carry urine. They run from the inner side of each kidney up to the urinary bladder.
  • Urinary bladder - It is muscular bag located at the bottom of the abdomen. Urine is temporarily stored in it.
  • Urethra - It is a tube like opening in the urinary bladder through Which urine passes out from the body.
