Explanation:
The process of fusion of the male sperm to the female ova is known as reproduction. In other words its a process of generation of new life with help of two parents. And the increase of the species of a perticular animal.
Reproduction is the ability of the living organism reproduce young ones similar to themselves , it is one of the most important characteristics of life. All living things reproduce , all plants, animals and other living organism exist because of reproduction.
The reproduction are of two types ------»
★ Asexual Reproduction :---- The production of young ones by a single parent without the formation and fusion of gamets , is called as asexual reproduction, this reproduction is also known as uniparental reproduction , new individual so formed are genetically identical to the parent it is a primitive method of reproduction that is simpler than sexual reproduction .
Asexual Reproduction takes place by the following processes :---------
- Binary fission :------ It is usually observed in unicellular organism , it is common in organism like bacteria and amoeba . In this process a parent cell divides into two daughter cell and each cell does formed grows to form and individual
- Multiple fission :------ It is the repeated division of a parent cell into a number of small individual for example plasmodium parent cell undergoes repeated division .
- Budding :------- The formation of a new individual from a small protuberance, called the bird arising on parent body is called budding . For example budding takes place in organism like Hydra and yeast. The offspring remains attached to the parent during its growth , it separates at an appropriate time to live as independent organism.
★ Sexual Reproduction :------ Production of young ones by the formation of fusion of Special Cell called Gamates. contributed generally by2 parents male and female is it termed as sexual reproduction. Unlike sexual reproduction the young ones are not genetically identical to the parent , in multicellular organisms are needed special cells or gametes are produced by reproductive organs , the male gamates are known as sperms and the female gamates are called as the eggs or ova (singular - ovum) produced by the female reproductive part , in most cases these two types of Gametes are produced by two different individuals however in some cases like that of the earth worm the same individual produces both types of gametes. The earthworm is called a hermaphrodite animal. When the two types of gametes (sperm and ovum ) United they form a single cell called the fertilized egg or Zygote. This process is known as fertilisation. The zygote done develops into an offspring.
