➝ Reported speech is when we talk about what somebody else said.

➝ In indirect speech,we often use a tense which is 'further back' in the past than the tense originally usedThis is called 'backshit'. We also may need to change other words that were used.

\Large\underline\bold{Examples:}

  • 1. Direct speech - "I worked in bank" said Daniel.
  • Reported speech - Daniel said that he worked in a bank.

  • 2. Direct speech - “I've been to London three times".
