Reproduction is the formation of new individuals who can repeat the same process as done by their parents .

→ Reproduction may be classified into two types :

⇒ Sexual reproduction .

⇒ Asexual reproduction .

→ Sexual reproduction takes place in complex organisms .

→ Asexual reproduction takes place in simple organisms .

→ Sexual reproduction involves the formation of gametes.

→ Asexual reproduction do not result in gamete formation .

→ Sexual reproduction is a slow process .

→ Asexual reproduction is a rapid process .

→ Sexual reproduction is inhibited by birds , mammals and organism with multiple cells .

→ Asexual reproduction takes place in unicellular organisms like bacteria .

The process of giving birth to young one's is known as Reproduction.

Reproduction leads to continuity of species. (Protect them from getting extinct from earth.)

Reproduction are of two types.

  1. Asexual Reproduction
  2. Sexual Reproduction

  • Asexual Reproduction

It doesn't involve formation of gamates and single parents are required.

No variations takes place in this type of reproduction.

Example : Bacteria, hydra, yeast etc.

  • Sexual Reproduction

It involves formation of gamates and two parents are required in such type of reproduction.

Variations takes place in it.

Example : All mammals, birds etc.

Types of Asexual Reproduction :

  • Binary fission : In this single organism splits or divide into two new organisms.

  • Multiple fission : In this the parent organism or single organism splits into many new organisms.

  • Budding : In this the small part of the parent organism grows out a bud which later detaches and forms a new organism this is known as budding.

  • Spore Formation : In this new organisms are produced by spores.

  • Regeneration : When new organism is developed from it's body part is known as regeneration

  • Fragmentation : When an organism is splits into two parts then each part develop into new organism this is known as fragmentation.

  • Vegetative Propagation : In this new plants are obtained from plant parts like stems, roots and leaves etc. without the help of seeds.

Types of Sexual Reproduction :

There are no types of sexual reproduction.
