The creation by a life form of similar life is called reproduction. In other words, the process by which species is continued is called reproduction.

Or

Reproduction is the process by which every living organism multiplies to form new individual of its kind. Reproduction is the only process by which continuity of life is maintained.

There are two types of Reproduction:-

1}. Asexual reproduction - It is a mode of reproduction by which genetically identical offspring are produced from a single parent. In this form of reproduction offspring are produced without the fusion of gametes. It is common process of reproduction in lower plants and animals.

2}. Sexual reproduction - It is a mode of reproduction, where a new offspring is produced by combining the genetic information from two individuals of different sexes. Sexual reproduction encompasses the fusion of two distinct gametes to form a zygote that develops into a new offspring.
