Reproduction health is a concept raised by international community, which is defined as follows: during the whole reproduction process, people should realize sound physical, mental health and social adaptability rather than merely having no disease or discomfort. It includes six areas: satisfactory and safe sex, healthy fertility, successful and planned childbearing in one’s own wish, having access to safe, effective and affordable contraceptive measures, having access to reproduction health services, safe pregnancy and birth.

Chinese government advocates this idea and endeavors to promote research and development of reproduction health. While conducting family planning policy, attention has been given to provide good reproduction health services, securing physical and mental health of both mothers and infants.
