Microorganisms do Biological Nitrogen fixing.
Nitrogen from atmosphere or soil, nutrients, water, temperature and Microorganisms are required. The anaerobic conditions are required for Nitrogen fixing. In the presence of Oxygen, the Nitrogen fixation action does not take place well.
Certain microorganisms do create anaerobic conditions themselves. Further the Nitrogen fixation requires also energy from the Plant. The photosynthesis derived sugars are used too during the process.
