This poem may sound like it is just about a person who shot an arrow then later found it in a tree, but it has a deeper meaning. This poem talks about someone shooting an arrow and losing it, and then they sing a song and the song disappears but later find it in a friend. This poem theme is based around the fact that words are unbroken. When the person in the poem shoots the arrow it is like when we lash out at someone or say unkind words. After we say those words we may not always see the consequences like when the person couldn’t find the arrow. However, eventually those words will come back and there will be a time when we regret ever saying them. The arrow was not broken, just like our words, they are unbroken. They will forever be in our world if you let them out. Nonetheless, words are not just hurtful, they can be touching. This is like in the poem. The character sang a song and when it disappeared they weren’t regretful of what they said. When they found these words again they were in the heart of a friend. If we chose our words with thought and think before we speak our words can be touch people’s hearts. This is one of my favorite poems because I feel like sometimes I can get worked up and want to scream, but I know I shouldn’t scream and this poem reminds me of that.
