Resistance of a substance is the measurement of the opposition to the current flow by that substance.

The examples of the substances which have high and low resistances, are as follows -

  • Alloys like the nichrome and the non-metallic substance like the rubber has high amount of electrical resistance. (All insulators have high resistance too.)
  • Metals like silver and copper have significantly low amount of electrical resistance. (All conductors and superconductors have low resistance.)

Answer:

Resistance is a measure of the opposition to current flow in an electrical circuit also known as ohmic resistance or electrical resistance. Ohms are measured as resistance, symbolised by the Greek letter omega (Ω). The ratio of the applied voltage to the current through the material is then known as resistance.

Tungsten, nichrome are substances which have high resistance and fuse wire, copper, etc have low resistance.
