Resistance can be thought as an obstacle to current flow .

Resistivity is constant for a material at constant temperature.
r =   \beta l \div a
where r is resistance ,Beta is Resistivity and a is cross sectional area.

Rearranging,We get

 \beta  = ra \div l
Hence resistivity can be defined as resistance to current flow through the conductor of unit cross sectional area through unit length of the conductor

Electrical resistivity (also called specific electrical resistance or volume resistivity) and its inverse, electrical conductivity, is a fundamental property of a material that quantifies how strongly it resists or conducts electric current.
