The resistivity of a material is the resistance of a wire of that material of unit length and unit cross-sectional area.
- The unit for resistivity is the ohm-metre

RESISTANCE
It is the property of a conductor to resist the flow of charges through it. Its S.I unit is ohm (Ω).
R = V/I
Where,
- R = Resistance
- V = voltage
- I = current.
Factors on which the resistance of a conductor depends:
- Resistance depends on its length (L)
- Resistance depends on its cross sectional area (A)
- Resistance depends on the nature of material
- Where "ρ" (rho) is proportionally constant known as resistivity of the material of conductor.

RESISTIVITY
- It is the property of the conductor due to which it offers resistance to the flow of current through it .
- It is measured by the resistance offered by 1m length of wire of that material of area of cross section 1 m2.
- Resistivity of the material depends only on its material and temperature.
