the resistivity of a metal is defined as the resistance per unit length of a material of unit area of cross section. And formula is R =rho l /a

akash12852: is this formula which you given a mathamatical formula of resistivity?
varshakhatiyan: i think yes
lalitc2502: yea it is the mathematical formula
akash12852: OK
varshakhatiyan: ,ok

Resitivity is a constant of proportionality.The S.I unit of resistivity is ohm metre. It is a characteristic property of the material.

The Conductors have very low resitivity whereas Insulators have high resistivity.It is denoted by p that is rho.
R=rho(p)l/A

Hope it's help u!!
