It is the process by which animals breath , it is the combination inhalation and exhalation.

respiration is the process of inhaling the air, absorbing the oxygen to the blood from lungs in exchange of carbon-dioxide using the absorbed oxygen in breakdown of food or glucose, and carry the formed carbon-dioxide back to the lungs via double circulation or we can say via heart and releasing it of exhaling it out in exchange of oxygen.
O2 gets in ↔ CO2<previously synthesised> gets out, O2 used for digestion→ forms CO2 that now gets out ↔new O2 gets in.
